Hello,
I can’t believe this is my first forum thread ever!
Here's the dealio. I have a relative with Asperger's. For those that don't know; Asperger’s is a form of high functioning Autism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome. Until now I never looked into it much. But the mother of this child got really excited when I told her I was distributing light and sound machines. She told me her Occupational therapist recommended using them.
It is basically for the same reason that it helps people with degenerative brain disorders of the elderly. People with Asperger's and Autism have fewer or weaker neuro connections. Especially between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Most of the exercises that Occupational therapists do with these people were developed to increase communication between the hemispheres, thus building new and stronger neuro connections.
The binaural beats that the light and sound machines create also build and strengthen these neuro connectors.
However, for the life of me I cant find ANY documentation of this technology in use or discussed for the purpose of therapy with autistic people.
Does anyone out there know anything? Books? testimonials? articles? Anything?
Finally has anyone heard of an autistic or Asperger's person having a 'bad" response to light and sound technology?
Thanks for your help.
