Hi everyone, Michael from Cymatic Somatics Inc. here. I wanted to give an update regarding Prism Studio and Cymatic Somatics Inc. As some of you may know, Cymatic Somatics Inc. has been commercially developing software plug-ins that can be used for the development of brainwave entrainment sessions, including support for AudioStrobe, SpectraStrobe, and our own light/sound codec, Lumasonic.
After five years of operation and some difficult market conditions (COVID + supply chain) we've decided to shutdown the company, Cymatic Somatics Inc. Although we're obviously sad to have to make this decision, we feel it was the right call.
However, not all is lost! Over the five years that we were in operation we've developed a huge library of software related to light, sound, and vibration session creation and playback. After taking a vote with our investors, we've decided to open source the core parts of our work related to AVS/BWE and multi-sensory immersive experiences.
This transition to open source will rollout in two phases:
First, we released an archived binary copy of the Prism Studio suite of VST3 plug-ins (Prism, Prism Audio Bus, Prism Monitor, and Prism Reference) as well as our developer SDK for creating custom decoding software, and the associated documentation. This copy of the software will operate without any product licensing/authorization requirements as we've now brought our prior licensing server offline. These are free to use for personal or commercial purposes, just make sure you respect the open source license, which is the MIT license.
Second, releasing the source code necessary to compile the Prism Studio plug-ins and Lumasonic Decoder SDK library, and the core algorithm and filters used in the Lumasonic codec. This will allow any developer to not only compile the software from scratch, but to also modify it, or create derivative works based on the technology we developed while operating Cymatic Somatics Inc. The codec can be used to encode in AudioStrobe, SpectraStrobe, and Lumasonic, and to decode AudioStrobe and Lumasonic (we don't have the rights to SpectraStrobe, so cannot offer an open implementation of the decoder). This phase will take quite a bit of work to prepare the code base and we do not currently have a strict timeline associated with the release. We will be working on it as time and finances allow.
In addition, we've added a donation option to the project's open source repository. Rather than sell this IP in a fire sale, we opted to finance the open source transition ourselves. If you have already received value from our work, or you would like to support the continued development of the Lumasonic ecosystem, please consider donating! Your donations or continued support would be greatly appreciated.
