Thread: Driver install problem

  1. Default Driver install problem

    I'm trying to update the driver from 2.1.4 to 2.1.6 - I'm running Win 7 x64 pro.

In device manager i get the exclaimation mark, but when I follow the steps in your .swf video and try to install the Sillabs driver, I just get a message saying that the best driver software is already installed. Any help to resolve this would be much appriciated.

    Thanks,

    Adam

Edit: Managed to get it working! feel free to delete this thread

    Hi Adam;

Sounds like you didn't follow the video exactly. Did you perhaps jump a step or do something different?

After you have run the Procyon installer and downloaded and installed the Win7 SiLabs driver as the thread shows, the next steps are:
    1. Click on the windows icon to bring up the Start Menu
    2. Right-Click on Computer
    3. Click on Manage
    4. Click on Device Manager
    5. Right-Click on Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COMx)
    6. Click on Update Driver Software...
    7. Click on Browse my computer for driver software on the "Update Driver Software" Window
    8. Click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer on the next Window
    9. Click on Have Disk... on the "Select the device driver..." Window
    10. Click on Browse... on the "Install from Disk" Window
    11. Browse to Program Files (x86)\Silabs\MCU\CP210x (or wherever the drivers were installed) on the "Locate File" Window
    12. Click on slabvcp.inf
    13. Click Ok
    14. Click Ok on the "Install from Disk" Window
    15. Click Next on the "Select the device driver..." Window
    16. Click Yes at "Update Driver Warning" message
    17. Click Close when driver update completed.

At that point the yellow exclamation mark should be gone.

If that doesn't work, let me know what step you get stuck at.

    -Andy.

    Hi Andy,

I spoke too soon, as I finally managed to install the driver and firmware upgrade before your reply. Thanks anyway for the help! - The firmware upgrade really does make a difference.

    Kind regards,

    Adam
