Unified Procyon Editor & Driver Installer for Rev1 & 2
There is a new piece of software that has been made to help streamline the installation of the Procyon editor and driver. It seems to work well and makes things simpler for the 1st-time user. This is only for the Procyon Rev1 and Rev2, purchased before Dec 2010.
It would be much appreciated if some of you more experienced, computer-savvy types could give this a try and let me know if it works for you. It would be good to know how it works for people that have none of the software installed on their computer and on various versions of Windows.
Here it is: http://www.mindplacesupport.com/Down...ocyonSetup.zip
Thanks!
-Andy.
P.S. The Editor and Drivers are the same ones that were available individually on the support site, this is just a simplified installer.
Re: Unified Procyon Editor & Driver Installer
Andy,
The installer worked well. I used it in conjunction with the x64 driver for Win7. Installed the driver software and forced the driver recognition per you excellent instructions and video.
Good work Mindplace team.

Re: Unified Procyon Editor & Driver Installer
Hi,
Doesn't work.
I run vista. When I try to play something (run segment) I get:
"The serial port is not open, do you want to open it?"
If i choose "yes", I get "Port 4 is not available. Invalid port number. Please select a new COM port".
Then I click "serial communication" -> "set com port" and I can see the "com 5" is checked but grayed out. All the other com ports are grayed out too, so I can't change it.
When I check the "USB bridge for MindPlace Procyon" in the system, it has a warning sign on it (a sign with an exclamation mark).
If i right click to the check the properties for the driver on "USB bridge for MindPlace Procyon" it says that it cant read the drivers. Chosing to update the drivers and chosing the location of the drivers only brings up the information that the latest drivers are allready installed.
Please help what to do.
---
Forgot to say that I have the 2.1 version and I chose that one on install.

I'm not sure if anyone's tried to get the driver to work on Vista x64, but I was able to get it working on Windows 7 x64. If you like, you can try the steps from Windows 7 x64 to see if they work for you.

Re: Unified Procyon Editor & Driver Installer
Hello, Andy
When I downloaded the ProcyonSetup.zip file from support site and tried to install, the Anti-Spyware program on my laptop says a Trojan microplugin is prevented from being installed.
Would you please let me know what to do.
Regards

It's a false reading. There's no virus or trojan in that file.

Hello, Andy
I cleaned my laptop. Deleted 'Microplugin' and then tried to install ProcyonSetup.zip, and the StopZilla Spyware program which I use on my computer showed 'MicroPlugin' and deleted it, again.
I rely StopZilla very much as it solved many of my virus problems.
Now the question is : is the ProcyonSetup.Zip supposed to have some file related to and named as 'Microplugin' ?
Would you please try at your end once again.
Thank you for your help.
Regards

I have no idea.
I can only assure you once again that there's no virus in the file (unless it's coming from your computer). Your StopZilla program is giving you a false reading, so proceed however you wish in those circumstances.
Send the file to StopZilla if you want and have them analyze it. Not much more I can do to help you with that.
-Andy.

Hello, Andy
I sent a mail to StopZilla asking them to analyze the ProcyonSetup.Zip file.
When I was running scan using StopZilla, I tried again to install ProcyonSetup file, and this time, probably because StopZilla was busy doing some thing else, it did not stop installation. It completed.
Then when I tried to open the COM port, the com port com8 ( which was assigned to the SiLab bridge) was greyed out in teh Editor software. After a few attempts to disconnect the device and other MultiPort USB hub etc., at one point, Com8 became active in the Editor software. No clue why the Editor software did not recognize the Com8 port at first.
Any how, for now I am connected, and updated the OS to 2.1.6
So, now I have the basics working.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards
