New Product Questionnaire
So, at some point (No idea when, though...) MP will release an update to the Procyon.
I would like to hear what people would like to see if this were to happen.
Three separate areas to think about:
1. The design/ergonomics of the case, controls and accessories
2. The software inside the console (the OS)
3. The editor software (for programming the console)
I'd like to hear what people think would be improvements to the current Procyon. Try to organize your responses into the above categories if possible, and maybe we'll have a poll later on the top ideas.
Thanks!
-Andy.
Re: New Product Questionnaire
1. The design/ergonomics of the case, controls and accessories
Maybe a slightly recessed power-on button so you don't accidentally turn it off in the middle of a session. Another option might be a 'Hold' switch to freeze everything. A Left/Right switch on the glasses (like the L&S Synergizer) so you can display each colour as a different AudioStrobe channel.
2. The software inside the console (the OS)
Would like to see a 'Manual Mode' added, like the Proteus and Sirius machines. It would be great if you can get rid of the background hissing, or at least include an in-line volume adapter.
3. The editor software (for programming the console)
User-friendly Colour-Pulse software would be nice. Also, an interface to NP2 to allow 3 colour programming would be great.
All I can think of right now. Pretty short wish-list eh?
Cheers,
TomC
Re: New Product Questionnaire
Some how get the third color led going when playing AudioStrobe CDs.
Sell the unit without headphones. Most people seem to replace them with a better or different set anyway.

AS is a 2-color format, but you can set the Procyon to make 2 of the 3 colors come on for the Left or Right and the remaining color for the other channel if you like.
Re: New Product Questionnaire
Noise generator, waveform editor and real-time accessible manual mode, please. Not too many changes just for change's sake - it's mostly just about spot on. Oh, yeah, and real-time console control of AS color mapping.
Cheers,
Craig
Re: New Product Questionnaire
Agree with Craig, at least for entrainment purposes a manual mode would be nice, with either alternate /or simultaneous flashing in two colours like the Proteus, and the third colour could be ganged with one of the other two. Perhaps the manual mode could just use the colour choice set in another menu for audiostrobe colour response .
On the longer term I would like to see the developemnt of some glasses for open and closed eye eye viewing: only then will we be able to see the colour range that RGB can potentially deliver. I've been experimenting with two halved ping pong balls with the Procyon glasses over the top. Very uncomfortable but the addition of truely intense blues and violets to the spectrum makes for stunning ambience and visuals.

Hi Andy,
How excatly would I set the Procyon to do this with AudioStrobe input?:eusa_think:
Thanks,

As Andy pointed out you can change the AS colour(s) for each of the 2 channels. However, since each side of your glasses contains one of each colour so you cannot actually separate each of the left/right colours.
The Procyon software is a little misleading in indicating that the colours can be set left/right. It should probably say AS channel 1/2.
If you want to listen to AS CD's the way they were meant to be played (separate left/right channel output) you can use the Procyon glasses adapter and plug in a set of MP mono-colour glasses (and Procyon controls set to ASdig). Works great for me.

Re: New Product Questionnaire
From memory you set any of the RGB LEDS in any combination on each channel side to respond to the L/R channels of Audiostrobe ?
Re: New Product Questionnaire
I would like a sd card slot to increase the memory for grab sessions.
Re: New Product Questionnaire
I support any & all of the previous suggestions and would also like to see:
1) the looping function re-examined:
a) nested loops either don't work properly or "as expected", or is very user-unfriendly (non-intuitive at all) &
b) change the limitation of a loop to "finish at" to include segments beyond segment No. 32 {example: "start at 1", "finish at 100", "repeat 3 times"}.
2) internal memory for mp3 files
3) there are cables that are rubberized instead of "plastic" coated, and they do not tangle easily, and untangle very easily...
4) some frequency control on the Random Session 000 {example: generate random segments, 1 to 3 seconds long, from 8Hz to 12Hz}
5) if the inside of the goggles were like a mirror or Aluminum foil instead of black/dark, they would reflect more light back toward the eyes and also broaden the bright "field of view".
[Out of context: I never use the provided earphones, preferring earbuds or canalphones, depending on the situation.]
Great console, love it.
Re: New Product Questionnaire
Thanks for your comments, Ben.
I feel like the looping makes sense once it's understood and you and I just didn't understand it, I think! It definitely does work, but could use some further documentation and perhaps the feature in the editor could be more user-friendly?
If you have some thoughts and suggestions on how to improve that function specifically, please do continue the thread here: http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...hlight=looping
It seems to me the function is fine, but it could be implemented a little friendlier in the editor. I'd like to hear more of what you'd like to see in this function as this could probably be changed in the editor.
Re: New Product Questionnaire
A color organ feature would be nice for entertainment uses.
Re: New Product Questionnaire
I've had the procyon for over a month. I have never had an AVS machine before, having only worked with software-based entrainers. Over all I'm very satisfied with this machine. After evaluating different machines in the market and comparing features, price, I think that Procyon is the best overall. I'm glad I chose it. My feedback may be some of what everyone has already said.
2. The software inside the console (the OS)
- I like the simplicity of the controls. KISS principle... great!
- I hate the hissing and popping (when you turn the unit on and off while wearing the headphones).
- Manual edit mode would be nice to edit and/or create new Sessions away from computer.
3. The editor software (for programming the console)
- If you really play around with the software, you'll find it's very powerful. However the interface is not as intuitive as most people would like. Being a software programmer myself, I know you could've done a better job. I think a lot was crammed into 1 screen. Maybe separate functions into different views/tabs for ease of navigating. The Color programming could be made easier.
One thing that helped me a lot is reviewing CraigT's personal blog on Procyon software. He has a very in-depth function description/explanation. I think you should hire him to write manuals for you.
- Another think that would be nice is having an embedded sound generator in the software, so that when creating patters, you can 'sample' them on your computers sound card without having to plug the unit, put on your glasses, etc. The visual effect of the flashing LEDs can be emulated on a sample 'color' window, etc., you get the idea.
BUT OVERALL, I LOVE IT !!!!!
