Procyon Ganzframe Adapters
The Ganzframe Adapters Are Here!
NOTE: THESE ADAPTERS ARE ONLY FOR THE REV1 and REV2 PROCYONS, MADE BEFORE DEC 2010.
There are 2 versions:
The $25 adapter has a connector that fits into a Procyon console on one end and a female 3.5mm stereo jack on the other which can connect to light frames like the Proteus that use that connector and no more than 2 different channels or colours.
The $10 raw cable has a connector that fits into a Procyon console on one end and bare wires on the other. This can be used by folks that are handy with a soldering iron to build your own adapter and save a little money.

A pic of the completed adapter is below.

Andy
I am about to order one adapter . My question ( which might need to be reffered to the technicians) is whether the driver circuitry in the Procyon will drive the old style 2 colour glasses to the same level of brightness as the Proteus?

Yes, this should work; we use the same drive transistors for both models, and trim them to about 18 ma (20 ma being their peak operating current)

Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
Will the adapter also work with the MindPlace Pure White Glasses?
I'm asking because I'd like to try pure white LEDs for AudioStrobe content, but would still like to purchase the Procyon rather than the Proteus.
Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
This adapter will work with ANY lightframes that work with the Proteus.

Thanks to those of you who placed orders! :hello2:
Hopefully some more will step up soon.
Until then, I've attached some photos of how I made the adapters so that those of you looking to "roll your own" can see what's involved.

Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
Sorry for the late reply, I had not been here for a while and therefore was not aware about the adapters. You can imagine my surprise when I found out 2 of my issues with the Procyon had been completely solved (lightframe adapter and the disabling of auto-off). Therefore I do not wish you to mistake me not ordering with me not honoring my word, I intend to keep my word and order 2 lightframe adapters right away. Hope others that said they would buy the adapters do so to because the last thing I want is for you not to follow user request out of fear that they will not keep their end of the deal. Thanks again for making the adapters available, great support :)
One suggestion if I might add, maybe making a feed available from MindPlace with news could make situations such as this one avoided, since I usually subscribe to feeds if they are available and will see them even if I don't have time to come by the forum.
Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
I suspect the answer is "no" but one feature I liked from the Proteus was the ability to run 2 sets of light frames at once. Any way to split the signal - or would power be too low? I'm VERY interested in running the same session with a partner, but I'm a Procyon owner and not looking to buy another machine.
Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
Hi and welcome back. Make sure you "subscribe" to any threads of interest and you will receive an e-mail letting you know when there's a new reply.
I also added an RSS feed today for the forum so if that's your thing, add this link to your homepage or RSS reader:
http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...&newposts=true
Most browsers have an "add RSS" button if they detect the RSS feed from the forum.

Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
Using the adapter with a headphone splitter would get you two 2-colour frames running off one Procyon, but nobody's made a splitter for Procyon 3-colour lightframes, and I'm not about to! :icon_wink:

Re: Procyon Ganzframe Adapters
Thanks Andy , I'll enquire about the raw cable as I'm ok with a soldering iron if my back is against the wall :)
Can you tell me the assignments of tip and ring regards red/green wires for the 3.5mm stereo female end I have to add? ( I want to adapt older style Red / Green glasses for Audiostrobe use with my Procyon).
Mark
Re: Procyon Ganzframe Adapters
Hi Mark;
The pictures above show the wiring of the Procyon cable.
On Red/Green Lightframes, Tip is the Red LEDs, Ring is the Green LEDs.
Good luck! :)
-Andy.
Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
FYI - Adapters should be available again. A bunch more got built.
The new ones are a little shorter - they're about 6" long. No need for all that extra cable!
Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
Hey Andy,
Are you still selling these adapters?
I have a pair of Common Ground Photosonix TruBlu Light Frames I wish to use.
Thanks in Advance.

Unfortunately, no. They were for the Rev 1&2 Procyons with the rectangular Ganzframe plugs which have been out of production for almost 10 years.
Re: Procyon Lightframe adapters
Are these adapters still available for Procycon rev2?
