Are legacy versions available on their website? Thanks.

I heard again from TC, and they are most definitely on it. Because it's a problem that MS created with their new update, they have to figure out what MS did to break the software. (You can see if you search for that specific error there have been many programs affected over the years, not just TC's). Either MS has to fix it or TC has to figure out a workaround for this new MS bug.
I expect you will see a fix or a suggested workaround soon.
By the way, I tried reverting to a previous version but it left my Win10 install unable to restart, so I wouldn't recommend that right now.
all versions are available here : http://windowsiso.net/windows-10-iso...uild-16299-15/
Only the latest version (1803) is available on the Microsoft website.
Okay... Whats the difference between the ".net" version. and the Microsoft updated .NET Framework version.? I went to the Microsoft website, and MS determined that reinstalling the old version was not an option with the new updated version of .NET Framework..
Look.. IF you have been able to "SAFELY"get this software fully operational through some other means, by all means SHARE..
You're communicating with full purchasers of Transparent software who are in a bit of a panic because this rather spendy software is no longer operational.. My knowledge of Microsoft code is extremely limited; so you would have to explain in detail, how to attempt to consider installing the ".net version" of Framework without crashing my entire OS and making a bad situation worse..
Please feel free to PM me or Email me gareth
If you do not reply, I will ASSUME you are not serious about you previous suggestion..
Has there been any success with anyone reinstalling Windows 10 version1709 and reactivating their Transparent software?
If so; is it feasible to assume that deactivating the automatic update for Windows 10 is logical.?
Sorry to seem like such a nuisance Andy, but you have to understand peoples alarm when they purchase $300.00+ Software and;
1.The Support website goes dark.
2.Communication with the human beings who oversee the software is reduced to a "selected few".
3.When the Software is still being sold but there is absolutely NO TECH SUPPORT for it..
Not a very comforting combination if one Software no longer work.. Wouldn't you say?
Hopefully the controllers of Transparent Corp. can display some type of HONOR for a product they still appear to be selling to others..
Have a great day and
Thank you for your patients, understanding, and empathy about the matter Andy..
Best regards,
Alarmed Transparent software customer.
I understand. It's concerning to me as well.
The best solution currently, if you want to use TC products until they put out a fix, is to install a VM, like VMWare Workstation or VirtualBox on your PC and install an older version of Win10 on there. (You should be able to activate it with your current Win10 activation code). That is what I have done and it will run the TC software properly.
I would also turn off automatic updates.

There is now an official response from Adam Hewett of Transparent Corp. Please see: https://www.transparentcorp.com/

Hi Andy.
Well, it appears that MWS is on its way towards permanent extinction; It's sad because it is a very good piece of Software.
Andy, Could you Direct me to a good link about VMWare Workstation or VirtualBox and how they work in conjunction with Windows 10 and MWS. I must admit, I know just enough about OS's to crash them.
My first attempt will be to attempt to go back to Windows 10 1709 version first, however if the virtual box method is a more viable alternative to going back to 1709, I'm open for suggestions and links..
Also who out there, that you are aware of, is a decent and more "Stable" alternative to Mind Workstation software...?
I'm presently in the long arduous process of organizing my information for backup so as to attempt to get my MWS back on line again, so I am open to any suggestion and links..
One more thing; Has the MWS owners considered placing their company and their software FOR SALE to anyone else who has the stamina and resources to maintain the updates for the MWS..?
Thank you very much for your time, and assistance;
Fellow Brain change student.
Renovartia
Well, installing VMWare Workstation Player is pretty easy, and IIRC, it just uses a wizard to walk you through the OS install of Windows. VMWare "Player" is still a very professional piece of software, and best of all, it's free. VirtualBox is also free, but not as easy to install and use.
You will need a DVD or ISO of Windows 10/8/7/XP or whatever you want to install as your secondary OS, with an activation code.
If you only have the original OS of your computer (i.e. Windows 10) then download the ISO for Windows 10 and use the activation code on the sticker on your computer when asked.
There's plenty of tutorials out there. Some are for version 12 but I'm sure 14 is the same or even easier.

I just saw this thread by accident looking for something else. For the record, I have the same problem. Win 10 returns this message when trying to launch NP3
"Please set registry key
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the >NET Framework install location"
I am not tech savvy enough to muck around very much in the registry, but I can't find anything like this key in there. There is a lot of info on Microsoft site about .NET Framework issues (not specifically about NP3), but it is all gobbledygook or the suggestions don't relate to anything on my system.
Two weeks ago, opened two support tickets w/Transparent, but no response. It's a pity, the software was not cheap.
+1 on open sourcing the software.
Please see here.
Fortunately for some of us, MWS still works just fine with Windows 7...
I got MWS working again on a Windows 7 x86 VM.
The VM is a developer trial version and it's available here. Silly to have a specific VM for only one product, but hey, it works.
VirtualBox on Mac with a USB3 and audio host in the VM to work with Kasina directly in MWS. :headbang: #happy #mwsforever
I have Windows 7 professionel and I also can not start MWS anymore and it given me the error Not supported 16 bit version.(I did not change anything except the normal windows updates)Funny is that it is still working on my windows 10 newly updated (yesterday)Laptop.Where can I see the Net Version of My windows 10?
I would try re-installing on Win 7. Somehow your install may have become corrupted. MWS is definitely not a 16-bit program.
If you get the error again, take a screenshot and post the exact text.
I reinstalled it and it say Have to translate it for you because it is in German:
The errorwindow is called :"Not supported 16-Bit application
Then it says in the window:The Program MindWorkStation.exe can due to incompability with 64 Bit version of Windows not be started.Go to the Softwaredistributor to find out if a 64bit version is available.I also get this just after newe installation:Application has encountered an error (0x800700D8)Please contact the puplisher of this application
Very strange indeed!
KAY, Andy.
I have a dumb Question for you.
Do I reinstall the MWS on the Virtual Windows? Does the MWS automatically work THROUGH the Virtual machine?
Once the virtual Machine is successfully installed, whats the next "STEP BY STEP" process to get it operantional..
I am determined to get my ALL of my (expensive) 10 year old TRANSPARENT (defunct) software running again..
one more thing...! What are the other software alternatives to MWS, if (or when) it become completely incompatible with all OS's..?
I am bracing myself for the worst with Transparent software. If I can "ABORT it" for another replacement, I will; but with whom?
I have a Kasina, Is there another platform you recommend that is as flexible, and that works with another "dependable" software platform..?
Yes.
It's like having another computer "inside" your computer. Think of it as it's own computer, sharing the hardware.
Well, I don't know about "step by step", but just install it the same way as you would on your "normal" computer. Download the file, run the install, activate it, I guess? I really don't remember.Quote:

If your talking about SpectraStrobe content, there's MuLab. If you're talking about AudioStrobe content, there's several products out there that can create AudioStrobe sessions. However, I'm sure someone will come up with something if TC doesn't get it back working again... MWS will ALWAYS work with Win 7, and VMs are free, so until computers no longer run Windows operating systems, I think you'll be fine.Quote:

There's nothing like the Kasina.Quote:

I am so disappointed with transparent corp they should sell it to someone that actually care about the software mind place would be a very good place so much more work could be done in that software and all they care about is brain fm sad sad
Hey Andy - Transparent Corp has shut down their entire site even though they said licenses would remain active. All emails gone too. I finally got a copy of win 7 installed in HyperV and started to install MWS --- but, now that the website isn't up, I can't activate the software …..
Any workarounds you can think of to bypass?
I think what they were saying is that existing activations would still work. I don't know of any workaround to activate a new copy. Or are you trying to activate a previously-activated copy that you paid for?
Hi all, this is Joe Verona, formerly brewmasher. Sorry for the long absence as of late. Life has certainly taken me for a spin the past couple years!
It certainly is a shame on Transparent to shut down or site after saying that they would at least continue to support the products for another year. it is also a slap in the face for those who have invested in their TCN program and rely on their software to make a living. This really throws a monkey in the wrench for myself for I procrastinated (as usual) to copy my activation codes as I thought that I had a year to do so. It was an out and out lie to tell us that they would support the products for year, and then shut it down a month later. SHAME SHAME SHAME!
I am still currently using their software on Windows 10. The .net error did not occur until the latest build upgrade. If you have recently got an automatic update and your Transparent software will not open, you can go to Settings> Recovery and in More Recovery Options there will be a link to restore to a previous build. If it does not give you that option, you still may be able to roll back by resetting Windows, and then rolling back to a previous build. More info on how to do this can be found here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...3-f03cec62338b. The good news is that if you have an activated copy already installed you will not have to reinstall and reactivate.
Anyway, I feel there is a need for this type of software. The closest thing that comes to it is Sharm Studio http://thesharm.com/studio-overview but it does not support Audiostrobe or Spectrastrobe.
I have toyed with the idea of starting a crowdfunding program to develop a new Mind Workstation from the ground up. Mind Workstation was in need of a hefty upgrade anyway. Let's face it, MWS had its limitations in the new technological era, and was not very intuitive. If anybody else would be interested in such a venture, PM me.
yes I am interested there is any way they can sell the existed MWS code and we improve it ? would you have to start from nothing would be a big job. how ever I would contribute to the crown founding. and big shame on transparent corp shame on than so bad
I don't know if they would be open to selling the coding, and I don't know how much use it would be anyway. The coding of NP3 and Mind Workstation was a work in progress for many years with things being added on through multiple contractors and third-party vendors. The reason why they did not provide a Mac version is because to do so they would have to start from the ground up which they weren't willing to do. Let's face it the technology has advanced in leaps and bounds since 2007. I think a much better program can be developed if started from scratch.
:angry4: All my software purchased from Transparent Corp. : Neuro Programmer 3 ,Mind Workstation full versio, Mind stereo 1.3 ; all deceased , and my money finished in the garbage ... :angry4:

Hey Joe;
Welcome back!
I never used NP3 or MWS that much, but it seemed like fairly complex pieces of software, with support for a lot of different products. I have extensive experience with DAW software, which MWS reminded me of, actually.
My question is, what did MWS do that can't be done with DAW software? Instead of re-inventing the wheel, perhaps an AS and SS plug-in for DAW software is all that's needed? Kinda like what Scott (neuroasis) was trying (but didn't finish) with Audacity?
I believe with the experience of JoeV and the crowdfunding we can make a better software for all devices. I am very disappointed with transparent corp I love the software I was looking forward to see more updates so much more could be done
Thanks Andy, good to be back.
That thought has crossed my mind. Im sure it can be done with Reaper. MWS was just that, a DAW with BWE capabilities. The advantage is you can pick and choose capabilities to fit your needs. My concern is that the learning curve would be too much. You would have to learn the DAW as well as the entrainment part. The problem that turned off many MWS users is that it was too complex and not very intuitive. It would be great to have a specialized program that is easy to use, and can be operated on multiple platforms.
Because all my software now no longer work on Windows 10 , and after trying to install my copies on Windows XP SP3 on a virtual machine , all my copies of programs regularly purchased. I have requested a new key. Who gives me a new key if TC has ceased its activities ???? :(
I spent a lot of money over the years with Transparent Corp and was always extremely happy with their products and their excellent support. So it was quite disappointing to surf to transparentcorp.com this morning to find this note on an image: "Thank you all for your support and interest in brain stimulation through music. Transparent has ended licensing and support of software and soundtracks."
I understand closing an old business when having success with a new one, but, with that said, I wish they would have at least emailed their old loyal customers with links to download all the final versions of the software that they paid for and licensed repeatedly over the years. In my case, I'm still running Windows 7 and when finally forced to move to Windows 10 I'll either have to keep an old computer with my version of MWS on it or say that's it for creating brainwave audio files.
I like brain.fm and appreciate the work the former transparent team is doing there, but I still personally prefer to create my own stuff.
Anyway, as Kurt Vonnegut Jr wrote in Slaughterhouse Five: "So it goes."
"So it goes"? Well, that is not the way should go!
I too still have a working install of MWS, and NP3 as well, on Windows 7. But I have misplaced any records of my purchases long ago, so when I last saw the CDs, I threw them out. Probably not the smartest thing I have ever done since I might have been able, at that time, to contact Transparent and gotten replacement keys, if they kept records of purchases a decade old. BUT, even if I had the keys, a new install can no longer be activated due to Transparent's extremely irresponsible shutdown of everything, including the activation server, their 'forums' and their online help and instructional files.
So, I will pray that this Windows 7 machine does not crash, as most eventually do. Since rediscovering this old machine these products have done wonders for the neck pains and dizziness I have had in the mornings lately. In the meantime I have found that the install files for both MWS and NP3 can still be downloaded from numerous of places. And, under Linux, I can create a virtual Windows 7 machine, then clone it and reinstall the Transparent products every two weeks. So, I could run under the free trial period forever for the investment of less than fifteen minutes every two weeks. Might even be able to reset the date in that virtual machine daily so it isn't even necessary to reinstall it over and over. This should not be necessary though. Transparent should allow paid customers access to the keys they paid for, and either put up an activation server again, or create an activation utility that a paid customer could use offline to activate a reinstall. Any of this would require that they could be contacted of course, but they are making that nearly impossible as well.
Any argument that they would lose control of their software makes absolutely no sense since they have already completely abandoned it, as well as all their long time customers. If I were a retired lawyer, instead of a retired computer tech, I might consider legal action. But I am not. Anyone out here who is?
