Maybe save yourself the headache, and just purchase the MindPlace USB cable for your Proteus. It works with all Proteus, including your older one.

You where right on this.
New cable arrived from EBAY (http://www.ebay.com/itm/121243453309 ) and it didnt work at all as i hoped.
Will have to recover financially from all this since shipping of Proteus USB cable to my EU country will cost more then the cable itself.
I'm sorry to hear that!
So you cannot get this new product to install properly? It seems to me (but I could be mistaken) that the Prolific installed on my Win7 machine without any additional drivers. i.e. Win7 seems to have come with drivers for the Prolific Chipset.
I'm willing to continue to help if you would like. Just need to find out what errors you're seeing and what you're seeing in Device Manager. And the log file from the findports program.
What colour is the programming cable that you have for your Proteus?

Thanks so much for your help Andy.
I have installed at first 1.7 prolific driver and now i made an update to a 1.9 version from a website.
I have Windows 7, and in my device manager there is no errors, device is recognized, adapter is on COM4 port.
My Proteus cable is black coloured.
When i start Proteus software, i set my device to DL mode.
I go to Set Com port and select COM4, then to Utilities and i choose Upload code to Proteus.
Select file for 3.2 update. The i can see a data transmit bar moving in software but my LED on Proteus device is static to DL mode.
And when i turn off and turn on device i get 2.0 version screen so it means there was no data transfer.
Link to findports program seems not to work, could you upload it again please?
FindPorts
Try putting the Proteus in PC mode and Click "View Realtime" on the Proteus Editor.
Click on "Run Segment" and see if the Proteus responds by flashing the Ganzframes. Make sure the brightness is up on the Proteus.
Let me know what you find.
The Black cable is the correct one, but it might have a problem as well.

FIndPorts said: No MindPlace device found.
Here is log:
Log File opened at 10.1.2014. 19:09:22

When i made a "run segment" there was no respond flashing on Ganzframes.
I never used my original serial cable before so not sure how can it be damaged.
But i guess i should now find someone with a older PC machine that has a serial port where i could test if cable works.
This is odd.
Can you get me a screen capture of the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section of your device manger (expanded), when the USB to RS-232 adapter is connected?

It's pretty odd that FindPorts doesn't see that adapter.
You're running it with the USB to RS-232 adapter connected?
Try this version (attached)

Yes its all connected, adapter to the proteus cable and in to the AUX port.
Tried this other version of FindPorts and it still says no mindplace device found.
