Default Mind Machine Built With Computer

Hello all! (My first post, kind of exciting!)

Has anyone had any experience with (or seen info/links) building a light and sound machine that is controlled by a computer? I have a small Linux netbook that I think would be a great device IF possible. It's limited in resources (like only has USB, no serial ports) but I could definately see where a set of glasses, headphones, and some software could turn it into a great 'mind machine'.

Anyways, just a thought and a ponder. Thanks!

    Hi, and welcome!

Many possible avenues have been considered, and I, for one, have hooked a few bits together here and there to see what happens. As you have deduced, the sky is the limit. The thing that has to be asked, however, is what you might need in order to achieve what you want to achieve.

For myself, most excursions beyond the Procyon/Proteus capabilities have been a matter of diminishing returns - great fun, but nothing much gained.

    Cheers,
    Craig

All very interesting, but I'll bet the software isn't up to the standard of NeuroProgrammer or Mind Workstation. A Procyon (or Proteus/Sirius) hooked up to either of these, using audiostrobe-type signals for light control, is going to be pretty hard to beat.

The hardware side of controlling stuff with a computer is the (relatively) easy part - creating decent software to make it useful is where the time and talent comes in.

    Cheers,
    Craig

    Hi Craig,

That's what I've been consideredering as well.

I just ordered a Procyon, Laxman goggles and a Thoughtstream. I can't wait for the stuff to arrive

    Cheers,
