Thread: Using Proteus with a PC

  1. Default Using Proteus with a PC

    Hi,

I just received my proteus today, and after connecting it to computer, with supplied cable, absolutley nothing happens. There is no trace of the proteus being connected at all. I have ensured all connections are secure and there is only one 9 pin port on the back of computer that cable fits into. Also connecting other end into aux on unit. Is the unit faulty or am I missing something? Can you help?

    Regards
    Dave

    Hi Dave, and welcome!

Unlike USB, there's nothing that normally happens when you plug a device into an RS-232 port on a PC.

If you want to edit sessions or add new sessions, you'll need to run the Proteus editor.

I recommend reading the "Proteus session editor 2.02" manual that's here:
    http://www.mindplacesupport.com/Proteus.htm

You'll also see further down the page the editor, version 2.51, that you need to download and install.

You'll need to figure out which com port the RS-232 connection on your computer is. Typically you can do that in Device Manager.

Let us know how you make out!

    -Andy.
