    Default Procyon AudioStrobe Analogue- something new

    I've been mucking around trying to make the Procyon AS Analogue work as well as my Proteus and Sirius units with Audistrobe CD's.

    What I found was that if I connected the headphone directly to the CD player headphone jack and the Procyon Aux jack to the CD player line-out jack (Like I've always done with my Proteus with AS CD's) then the Procyon volume control seems to become an AS gain control like the Sirius unit.

    You can then tune max brightness on the Procyon and then use the Procyon volume control to control the overal brightness, contrast and hence pattern definition. For me, this seems to produce a much better result than I got with even my Procyon AS digital mode and ~ as good as my Proteus in AS mode.

    Give it a go!

    PS Maybe this was one of the enhancements made with the most recent Procyon OS upgrade.

    Cheers,
    TomC

    If you refer to the latest OS update description last June 2008 there is a note that says that the new AudioStrobe analogue would be discussed later, but I don't think that this has ever happened (although I could be wrong about this).

    At the bottom of this thread;

    There is a Procyon Key map that if you look at the bottom right corner it shows the AS gain is controlled by the volume control. I never understood what this did before now. Mainly because I was predominantly using the AS digital mode, and this AS gain feature does not seem to have any effect on the AS digital mode, just the AS analogue mode.

    In any case, it's nice to find these hidden features!

    No, Tom, you're right!

    Never got around to writing that. The tutorial (http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...read.php?t=550) however does explain it pretty well. I just need to list the new functions and what they do.

    Hopefully I'll find some time to do that.

    Hi TomC and Andy,

    Have used that feature the past couple of days and it is great! Really love it, it adds alot to the AS analogue experience.
