Thread: Help to upload new OS for Proteus

  1. Default Help to upload new OS for Proteus

I'm trying to update my OS to 2.5 or 2.8, mainly to get access to the new feature of 5 configurable levels of duty cycle of the lights.

I an connect to the 2.5.1 editor fine and it works fine with control from the computer. When I go to upload the new OS , the SW shows the two graphic comments and progress bars of `uploading code section 1 and section 2' . But when I switch the unit off and on It still show that OS 2.3 is onboard.

    Aby suggestions?

Are you using a USB to RS-232 adapter? If so, then read through this thread for some tips: http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...hread.php?t=37

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks Andy,No I'm using a PCI serial card . The unit is working fine otherwise as far as designing sessions on the PC and running them on the Proteus via the serial connection.

Try reducing the speed of your serial connection as per this post: http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...?p=215#post215

Ok I set the Com 4 port `transmit buffer ' to slow as suggested in the post.

No luck still showing OS 2.3. I then set the speed of the com port manually to 2400 baud as an experiment . Still no change.

Should the LCD screen on the Proteus show something when the code is installing. There is just a slowly flashing dot next to letters PC , that shows no sign of change when the comp. is transmitting the OS.

As mentioned before the connection is having no trouble controlling the Proteus from the PC.

Ah, there's the problem. Your Proteus needs to be in dL (Download) mode to receive the OS update. (Pages 6 & 9 in the manual)

Try that and see if it works for you!

Ah, thanks Andy. I was sure I'd tried DL mode . New OS installed.
