    Default Excellent Update!!!

I just want to post a big thanks to the team at MindPlace for such an effective response to the various requests for enhancements to the Procyon and its Editor. It's like having a new machine to play with!

While the improvements to the Editor are subtle, they are enough to change the 'feel' from a clunky piece of freeware to a serious purpose-built tool. It's now a pleasure to use.

The big news is the Audiostrobe capability. Having the ability to choose between digital and analogue modes is great! Someone commented on the visuals to the effect that it's like switching between LSD (digital) and mushrooms (analog). It takes a bit of playing around to get the full benefit of the extensive level controls (both on the Procyon and via the Editor), but it's worth becoming familiar with the effects they have - the difference that can be made to the experience is remarkable. I've found that using Blue+Green for left channel and Red for right channel, with the right gain down a little gives a very good White.

Other enhancements to the Procyon, such as external audio volume control, autoshutoff disabling, reduction in noise, etc. are all good.

I know there's still some things left on various wishlists, but this is a huge step. It will be interesting to see how the Procyon evolves over it's lifetime - it's good now and its architecture allows it to keep getting better!

After a bad start I'm now a very happy customer. This level of customer service is not something I have previously experienced.

    Kind Regards,
    Craig

    Hi Carlos,

The changes in the lastest OS were specifically made to allow Procyon owners to more fully enjoy using programs by Transparent Corporation, especially NeuroProgrammer2 and their newly released Mind Workstation.

MindPlace deserves our thanks for their speedy revamping of the AudioStrobe capability in the Procyon to meet the needs of these programs. From all us AS enthusiasts, thank you Robert Austin, Andy Broughton and Todd Stone from MindPlace. Outstanding customer service! A thank you is also due to the small team of volunteer Procyon users who spent countless hours working on the beta OS versions with NP2 & MWS. Thank you CraigT in New Zealand for your technical background and oscilloscope.

A procedure for adjusting the Audio Strobe level in analog mode will be posted this weekend for those wanting to enjoy working with NP2 and MWS. Support for interfacing the Procyon with these programs will be provided by the volunteer Procyon users who assisted in testing the new OS and developing the procedure. Also, Adam Hewitt at Transparent Corporation, who also assisted with the new OS testing, is available for technical assistance on his products.
