I just want to post a big thanks to the team at MindPlace for such an effective response to the various requests for enhancements to the Procyon and its Editor. It's like having a new machine to play with!
While the improvements to the Editor are subtle, they are enough to change the 'feel' from a clunky piece of freeware to a serious purpose-built tool. It's now a pleasure to use.
The big news is the Audiostrobe capability. Having the ability to choose between digital and analogue modes is great! Someone commented on the visuals to the effect that it's like switching between LSD (digital) and mushrooms (analog). It takes a bit of playing around to get the full benefit of the extensive level controls (both on the Procyon and via the Editor), but it's worth becoming familiar with the effects they have - the difference that can be made to the experience is remarkable. I've found that using Blue+Green for left channel and Red for right channel, with the right gain down a little gives a very good White.
Other enhancements to the Procyon, such as external audio volume control, autoshutoff disabling, reduction in noise, etc. are all good.
I know there's still some things left on various wishlists, but this is a huge step. It will be interesting to see how the Procyon evolves over it's lifetime - it's good now and its architecture allows it to keep getting better!
After a bad start I'm now a very happy customer. This level of customer service is not something I have previously experienced.
Kind Regards,
Craig
