Thread: Biofeedback driver

    Default Biofeedback driver

    Hi everybody,

I'm new on the forum, waiting for my Proteus to be delivered.

I've found interesting thing in Proteus Editor manual (July 31, 2001, kinda old document):
"Users who wish to write their
own biofeedback drivers should contact us at support@syneticsystems.com".

So, it is possible to connect and control Proteus with devices other than Thoughtstream via serial port.

I'm an electronics engineer and I'm really excited to connect something to the device.

Can you really open Proteus framework to allow users write their own biofeedback drivers?

Sorry for my English, I'm not a native.
    Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the community!

Yes, the Proteus can be controlled by sending serial data to it via the "aux" port on the side of the device and the serial cable which is supplied with the console.

Right now the device can be controlled by the Thoughtstream and by PC software. It would be very interesting to have it controlled by other devices; what do you have in mind?

The information on the data format (and other technical details) is available on the support site at http://www.mindplacesupport.com/Proteus.htm. The document is called "Proteus Technical Guide"

Let us know how you make out!

    -Andy.

    Hi Andy,

Thank you for the fast response.
I'm really glad to have this kind of support =)

I've checked your links, it is great to have the interface and session protocols open. I want to connect my own GSR sensor, so your links really filled the gap, thanks.

By the way, is the wavetable format (snd) open as well? It would be nice to have it since the wavetable editor is quite short in functions.

I don't know what the format is, but I'll try and find out.
Please post back if you come up with anything cool to connect to the Proteus!

    Hi--

It's probably possible to load your own waveforms into the Proteus, as we have a 'restore original wavetables' function. Our Proteus engineer, Todd Stone, would need to respond to this--once he catches up on a new project he's working on.

    Enjoy your Proteus!
