Thread: Any success getting the SynchroMuse example?

Default Any success getting the SynchroMuse example?

I spent entire day today trying to make the SynchroMuse session work... No luck!

I was following instructions precisely... But the session I uploaded is not found when I play the WAV file with Procyon in dAS mode!

    Help!

    Hi Firefly;

    I'm sorry to hear that!
Did you try the sample files to see if they worked?
Did you definitely name the .raw file EXACTLY the same as the Session ID in the Header? (pg 7 of the tutorial)

    Yes to all

The example is the only session I tried and I followed the tutorial in every detail. I took all the files from the archive, except I created a resulting WAV file myself, but for the lables and raw files I used import option. Can you point me to a working example with matching WAV and PRw files just to see that my procyon can sync them?

    Hi Firefly,

I have attached a zip file ... "SyncMuse wav files.zip".
It contains 8 wav files for testing the SynchroMuse function in your Procyon.

    SES2 21 dB down.wav
    SES2 18 dB down.wav
    SES2 15 dB down.wav
    SES2 12 dB down.wav

    SM Test 21_1 dB down.wav
    SM Test 18 dB down.wav
    SM Test 15 dB down.wav
    SM Test 12 dB down.wav

They are straight header files with no sound.

Four of the files have a generic DAS header "SES2". They don't look for any specific session, rather will run the second session in your "SES" bank.

The other four will look for the header "SM Test" associated with the "SynchroMuse Tutorial bk.PRw" session.

Both have been recorded at four different levels...
    -21 dB; -18 dB; -15 dB; -12 dB.

-21 dB is the default recording level and has the lowest amplitude.
Start with this level. If it won’t start the appropriate session in your Procyon then try the next level up. If everything is set up correctly and none of them work then something is probably wrong with the hardware in your Procyon.

If you find that increasing the amplitude gets things working then you can use the <Effect> <Amplify> menu item in the "audacity.exe" program to boost the amplitude of the "raw" file then paste it into the beginning of your "sound" file.

If "SES2" works and "SM Test" doesn't then the "SynchroMuse Tutorial bk.PRw" session didn't get loaded properly.

Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,
    theRock

    TheRock,

The example you posted worked, and I was able to create my own working header. The resulting wav worked with Audicity, but not with MS Media Player. Is there a way to make it work? I didn't try to burn the CD yet.

It is working now. I successfully created a few interesting sessions.

    That's great news!

Can you let us know what (if you know) was causing the problem? It would be good to know for others that are running into difficulties. I'd like to update the tutorial if there's some further steps or things to avoid.

Also, which db level worked best for you?

My biggest issue was that I probably didn't use the correct raw file, and as a result, the resulting wav had an incorrect header.
With that said, I was not able to repeat my success once I closed the editor.
I can't unlock the DAS generator in the editor menu anymore.

I happen to be a software engineer myself, so I wonder why you guys needed to lock the issue in the first place? Just curious
This causes my so much pain now...

That's so odd. I'll try and see if there's a solution for that.
