    Default No proteus-thoughtstream interaction

    Hello,

Can anyone help me with a connection problem between a four year old proteus and a 3 months old thoughtstream. There is no interaction between them. What did you do to solve it?
    The helpdesk is very quiet?

I read and follow up al the instructions (also the new ones from the site).
I can play the TS game on the laptop.
I have updated the PT to os 2.6 and downloaded the proper sessions in Uxx.
The stereo cable tested with Audio strobe.
The PT is in digital modus.
So Al seems to work fine...but no interaction activities..

Can the connection be tested without running a session? How?

Please help me whit this problem.

    regards,

    Zathom

    Hi Zathom;

Please check out the document titled "Interfacing the Thoughtstream with Proteus" on the support site. http://www.mindplacesupport.com/ThoughtStream.htm

It discusses how to set the Proteus to "digital" mode and how to run a stand-alone test.

Let us know if that helps!

    -Andy.

    Hello Andy,

I have tried everything including all information available on the support site..
The stand alone session is a riddle for me?
Quote ??.. can be initiated by pressing the top two buttons at the same time? unquote.

The 2 buttons of the PT , in Pxx or Uxx or something else?.. and what can I expect, sounds, visuals..

Can it be that some of the electronics inside is not working well, I have some difficulties with the sounds as well. When I change the sound level the sound from one channel is very different to the other channel, I have to toggle the volume a while to get a satisfied result. I think that I have to do some maintenance inside the PT.

    Greetings,
    Zathom

    Hello again, Zathom;

Do you have the latest OS on your Proteus? What version are you running?

The standalone session should respond with lights and sound when you press play on the thoughtstream, and stop when you press stop on the thoughtstream. Does that seem to work?

    Hello Zathom;

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We've been hard at work trying to figure out what the problem is.

    Please try this test:

Set the Proteus to P01 (assuming you still have your factory programs installed) and start it.

Power up and plug in the TS to the Proteus.

Does the display switch to 12.0 or 11.9 after 3 to 5 seconds?

    Let me know.

    -Andy.

    Hello Andy,

    Thanks for responding,
I use the old and original P00 files.
I did as you propose, starting P01 in digital modus.
The digit starts with 8.0 and is running up to 24.0.
The TS has no influence in that.
(the proteus in Dl modus give some readings like 128, 240,255.)

    Hello Zathom,

It looks like you have addressed most of the causes for the lack of the Thoughtstream/Proteus interface.

The only other thing I can think of is ...
Are you running the Proteus on batteries or an external power supply?

The circuitry for the Thoughtstream interface is sensitive to low voltage and would be the first thing to quit functioning as the voltage drops. If you are using batteries make sure they are fresh. If you are using an external power supply then this would not be the cause of the problem.

    Best regards,

    Hello theRock,

I bought new batteries, replaced them and in the P01 program the display turns to 11.9!
And when I take the sensor of my fingers the Proteus was responding.
A quick test in program U01 give a response as well.
Old batteries in the Proteus was the problem.

    Thanks for solving this problem.
Like Eric Bibb once said, you’re the Rock man, you’re the Rock.

Thanks to Andy as well for his part in solving this problem.

    Wow. Simple as that.

I guess my 1st advice from now on will be to put in brand new batteries in everything or power them up with the power supply (if they have one).

    Glad it's finally working!

    -Andy.
