Thread: New...programs and all

    Default New...programs and all

Hi folks, I'm new here and a bit disoriented and confuse.d

I read in my Kasina manual that this is the place to go for advice, help, and other things regarding my newly bought Kasina mind machine.

First, I must say that I'm an old school mind machine user. I first used one back in the early 90's. then in 2000, my machine broke. and it was unfixable. Because early designs of the mind machines didnt allow for opening up the circuit board for repair.
Then in 2015, I discovered a new breed of mind machines. David Delights, Roshi, Procyon, Laxman, etc. I settled on a Kasina.

I heard I can actually design my own programs? HOW?

Also, I heard I can download additional programs for my Kasina, for free. WHERE?

    Also,

Are the Blue, or Green, or Red LED lights supposed to be at the same level of brightness (lumens)? Or are some colors just supposed to be brighter or less brighter than the others?

Also, are the positioning of the left & right side LEDs supposed to be symmetrical? Or purposely crooked?

Some of the newer sessions can be downloaded here http://mindplacesupport.com/forum/sh...sion-Downloads. join out Facebook Group, you will find more.

You can use the KBS editor to create your own simple (tone and light only) sessions. Or you can use a DAW. Takes a bit of learning, but your efforts will be rewarded.

The red green and blue led's will be at different intensities to produce colors. All at the same intensity will be white light. Check your settings for Visuals, and make sure your settings are correct. You can adjust intensities if needed.

You'll notice that there are more Blue LEDs in the Ganzframes than the other colors. That is because Blue LEDs by design are not as bright as Red and Green.

The LEDs should be symmetrical. If you feel they may have shifted, please contact us at support@mindplace.com, and send a photo so we can investigate!

In the old days, the mind machine I had allowed you to make your own session using the buttons & features right on the machine itself. and you could save up to 10 self-made sessions. It was so easy.

NOW, theres this program Reaper that allows you to do that. I don't know how to operate such a program. I just know the old way of doing it. This sucks.
If theres any way Mindplace could allow for this direct manual customization of sessions, that'd be perfect!

Also missing from the Kasina is the old school option of sound effects to add to your entrainment session (ie. thunderstorm, babbling brook, crickets, etc). The old mind machines had this ready option right on the console.

The Kasina would be a perfect mind machine had it included at least these two features.

Well, it does. From the Kasina User Manual: http://mindplacesupport.com/kasina/#tutorials

    Manual control mode
Use this to select a single frequency which plays
continuously. To access this, select Sessions on the
main menu, then press and hold the middle button
for a second or two. A new screen appears with four
parameters: Beat (pulse rate, in Hz), Pitch (audio
frequency, in Hz), Phase (on/off or left/right) and
ColorSet. Use the top and bottom of the control ring
to navigate between these, and the left and right sides
to change their values. Press the middle button again
for a couple seconds to exit back to the main menu.

There is no built in ambiance generator, but you can modulate any sound file through the Aux connection in ways never possible with older machines. Works with any KBS session, or manual mode

Mod AUX which modulates the incoming sound at the
pulse rate specified in the playing KBS file, but has no
sound from the KBS, even if sound is programmed.

Mod KBS+AUX which modulates both the incoming
sound and uses the tones programmed in the KBS
    session, mixing them together.

Mod KBS which plays the incoming sound normally
without modulation, but does use the sound and
modulation programmed in the KBS session, mixing
it with the audio. When playing a KBS file, there is
also an option to adjust the intensity/depth of the
modulation in real time. You can choose between
preset levels by pressing the Right button while the
KBS session plays back. These settings will augment
the settings stored in the KBS file.

You can also use the KBS Editor for simple sessions.

If you are willing, download Reaper at the above link. It's free for a while and very inexpensive to buy. There are several users, including myself, on this forum and we can post templates custom made for Reaper to produce SpectraStrobe sessions. With a little effort you can design your own meditations.

Ah, but it does NOT have those features.

You can't save the manual/custom sessions.

I'm assuming you're familiar with the old mind machine models? Particularly "Super Mind"?

Well the ambiance (as you call it) option on the old models were actual buttons on the console that you can add to any session, including custom made sessions. One touch button. So simple. And the sounds were consistent. Crickets....thunderstorm...babbling brook...etc. And that was in ADDITION to any Auxilary music you played.

And now I can't do it without reprogramming an entire session on some software called Reaper. So frigging complicated!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, the instruction manual isn't clear enough. What are all the LED settings all about? (other than brightness)
What's up with all this "L/R" RBG stuff? So complicated!!

And what about this "modulation" thingy with the KBS sessions?
In the old models, all you had to do with plug in the AUXilary cord and play whatever was on your walkman. No further fuss about "modulation".

I really think you'd be a lot happier putting in a few hours to learn Reaper and doing your own meditation tracks. There's a lot of people on this forum that can help and share templates.
