I have no opinion on the Gamma/Theta question in your first note, not my area of expertise. I'll see if Joe can comment.

Note that every segment fades over the time of that segment. If segment 0 has a volume of 0%, and segment 1 has volume of 100%, it will take the entire amount of time of that segment for it to get from 0 volume to full volume.
In my modified version of your session, I set the 1st segment time to 10 seconds, so it takes 10 seconds to get from 0 to full volume.
If you have increased the time of the 1st segment, then add a segment before it of 10 seconds (or however long you want the fade-in to be) with the volume at 100%.


All parameters smoothly transition from the previous segment's values to the next segment's values over the time of the segment, not just volume, but brightness, colors, etc.
