Am I correct in thinking that the AUX socket on the Kasina is input only? That is, it can't be used to route the audio channel out to an external sound system?

That is correct. You could use the headphone output to send the audio to an external sound system. Or you could do it the other way - play the track on your sound system and send the audio to the Kasina via AUX input or USB (if playing from a computer)

Thanks Andy as I suspected. I did of course try the headphone output, which worked, but not well, as it didn't seem well-matched to the preamp input I was using, requiring a high volume setting, which in turn either created a noticeable level of output hiss, or just possibly exposed some of the KBS modulation via the hi-fi. I will try the USB option.
I see.
I would recommend you go into the audio mixer in the Kasina (press the volume (+) and (-) buttons together, and set the volumes like this:
AUX Volume: 0
KBS Volume: 10
INT Volume: 10
USB Volume: 0
Balance: Left/Right 0
Max: Volume: 52
(Remember to press the centre button after changing each volume level to "store" it after changing each individual item.)
Go back and check the settings of each item in the Mixer.
Exit the mixer by pressing the left button.
Use the volume control to turn the Kasina output up all the way.
Turn the volume on your stereo all the way down.
Plug in the Kasina's headphone output into an AUX input on your Stereo.
Play a session on the Kasina and slowly turn up the volume on your Stereo to the desired level. If you are hearing any distortion of the audio with the Stereo at a normal level, try reducing the volume on the Kasina.
Let me know if that works better.
-Andy.
