Alpha is good for memory recall. That's why you can't remember things when under fire (like somebody's name lol), but later, when you are relaxed and not trying to think of it, it pops into your head. Rolling the eyes up for some reason increases alpha, that's why some people look up when asked a question, as if the answer was written on the ceiling. If you are trying to recall something, take a min to close your eyes, breathe deeply, or if you have the time, do a short alpha session.

Sessions that alternate alpha with beta in 2 min increments have been found to increase test scores. beta helps focus, alpha helps recall.

Deep delta sleep is when short term memory gets put into long term. Doing a power nap after studying can help wonders. Get plenty of quality sleep when trying to memorize large amounts of data. Sleep induction and delta meditation sessions are in line.

What JoeV said. Alpha brainwaves, specifically around the 10.2 Hz range, have been shown to actively influence IQ scores. Speaking from experience, it is effective.

I like this way: to invent a word for every letter of the alphabet. The good thing about it is that at this time we regain access to some half-remembered words in our memory and use the connections between the nerve cells that would otherwise take a nap.

Another exercise for memory training is called "change of habit".

This task is solved by changing the functions of right and left hands. So, if a right-handed person is used to brush, write, brush his teeth or open doors with his right hand, then it is necessary to "redirect" these functions with his left hand and vice versa.

Simple daily outdoor walks also keep you more alert and has much physical and mental health. Exercising regularly increases the number of connections formed in your brain.

I would also add that it is wonderful when during the walk, you can occupy your brain light intellectual activity, for example, trying to look at some figures in the clouds.

What do you do when you walk into a room and forget why you went in there? You retrace your steps to find out where you lost your thought. If you can't recall something, retrace your path in your mind to find it!
