Thread: WHITE channel mentioned in manual and PRw format, but not in Editor?

  1. Default WHITE channel mentioned in manual and PRw format, but not in Editor?

    The manual mentions:

Four simultaneous color channels (red, green, blue, white).
The file format allows specifying RGB and W channels too.

But the Procyon AVS Editor (for windows) only show RGB channels.

Looking at pictures of the glasses, it looks like they have 1 R, 2 G, and 3 B LED elements (likely to compensate for how these colors penetrate closed eyelids).

What does the white channel in the file format control? An even mix of R, G, and B?

Why isn't it present in the editor?

Files output by the editor seem to leave the WHITE channel set to the default settings, but the White Active bytes are (00 00).

There was originally going to be a white LED as well in the Procyon Ganzframes, but for whatever reason, it got dropped during beta testing. Possibly power issues or maybe CPU load.
The data was in the file format and it would have been a lot of work to revise the protocol, so it was just left in, even though it performs no function. The White settings were removed from the Editor.

Remember, we're talking about a product that was designed 15+ years ago.

    That makes sense. Thanks!

Andy is correct--the microcontroller is pretty much maxed out with RGB, as there are a lot of variable parameters in operation during a session.
