Thread: does spectrastrobe require audio latency for entrainment

  1. Question does spectrastrobe require audio latency for entrainment

    Hi,
This is my first post. I am trying to learn.
I have been working on creating custom spectrastrobe sessions in reaper for use with my kasina.
I have a question about how the kasina works
the question has to do with audio offset/latency/delay.
    1) Does the Kasina's Spectrastrobe have anytype of HW delay that requires the audio entrainment to be delayed to compensate?
(I noticed in MWS that there is a setting that delays the audio for some reason by ~10ms)

    Hello Knightlight! Welcome!

I've not heard of any built-in latency, are you noticing that there is? (I don't think your eyes could see a 10ms delay, and I would think that it might take even longer than that for an LED to go from off to on?)

    What have you found?

You may find the information about creating SS sessions on Audacity useful.

Personally, I will be very interested to hear if you are able to successfully create SS sessions using Reaper and how you did it.

No, I haven't noticed nor could I. That would be way to quick to notice with my eyes closed.
Good to hear that it most likely doesn't have any built in latency!

I just though the default setting in MWS of 10ms was kind of weird. I would have guessed it would be more like 0ms.
Wondering why not set it to 0ms as the default, so everything is insync and inphase.

Thank you, I will take a look at the Audacity Suite. It looks like it could be very helpful.

My reaper sessions seem to be somewhat working, however very primitive at this point.
