Thread: Unsupported File Format

  1. Default Unsupported File Format

    Hi there,
I am getting this error with several mp3s. I have tried the following.

    1) Updated firmware from 2.03 to 2.04
    2) Formatted the SD card using the SD Card Formater utility 5.0.1
    3) Used ffmpeg to generate a new mp3 from original
    4) Used Audacity to export a new mp3 from original
    5) Used http://online-audio-converter.com/ to generate new mp3 from original
    6) Used MajorGeeks mp3 repair tool

Nothing I do seems to allow the Kasina to play the mp3 file(s). Oddly I have added an unrelated mp3 file that worked fine.
All factory files work fine. I am unsure what I am missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    John

It could be a problem with the SD card.
    Try another card.

If factory and "some" files play ok, your card should be fine.

Likely the converters you're using are doing something non-standard to the files. I've seen it time and time again. I use AVS4YOU and it generally puts out a proper mp3 with it's default settings. (I just change the bitrate to 320kbs CBR)

If you have a short mp3 that you can dropbox to me I'll analyze it and find out what setting is wrong, if you like.

The Kasina can only play MP3's with the following formats:

    Channels: Stereo, Joint-stereo
    Bitrates: 64kbs to 320kbs
    Codecs: ABR/CBR/VBR
    Sample Rates: 44.1kHz, 48kHz
    Sample Size: 16bit

Everyone, I want to thank you all for your quick replies. It turns out, my SD card is just fine. The audio files in question were mono (I didn't make them) and I had to manually convert it to Stereo. After I did this, they worked.

    Thank you again!

Excellent. I guess maybe I should make a sticky showing the correct MP3 formats for the Kasina!
