    Hi Marisa,
    In AS mode.

You're using it in AS mode and lasting 80 mins?

I know it is designed to shutdown in AS mode after a certain amount of time, but I thought it was 60 mins.

The idea was for it to be long enough for an AudioStrobe CD or something.

But yeah - it does shut down eventually.

    Regards

If is designed to shutdown when in use, not in standby, these means that is dangerous the use for more time?

Ah - I found it in the manual.

    On/off and power-saving.

For AS or DAS sessions, the device will power off after 80 minutes.

Is this dangerous? Well it means you should plan around the 80 minutes if you want to make sure a session is completed before shutdown.

If it does stop mid-session I guess that depends on the contents of the session.

Marisa would be able to comment more on hypnosis scripts being interrupted.

I do think there are certain types of session referred to as "no time" sessions which are probably better avoided or adjusted if they go on for more than 80 mins.

Most sessions should be OK though and if you're feeling a big groggy you can probably run a smaller session just to align the brainwaves to the state you wish to be in.

Eg. if you want to be calm and relaxed probably something around 10Hz or if you want to be able to concentrate of something like driving a car, possibly 14Hz.

Alot of this I've read from a book so Andy or Marisa should be able to jump in and clarify if I've got anything particularly wrong.

    Regards
    Caleb

Hi Carlos--we extended the AS shutdown time to 80 minutes, in order to accomodate most of the longer CDs now on the market. This is normal and is intended to conserve battery life, for those who have fallen asleep during the session.

Do you think we should extend this period? If so, how long?

No, it's not dangerous to use it longer than 80 minutes.

There have been many studies conducted on the safety of Neurofeedback (which is closely related) and there are no adverse affects reported that will do any damage to the person. After prolonged use (let's say more than 3 hours), at worse, you may get a headache or feel groggy which will clear up on it's own.

Ooops - I think I misread Carlos' question.

Just while I was on it though - can there be any effects if Procyon shuts down before a session is completed. Refer to my previous post on the subject.

I'm curious myself if there should be any concern with sessions cut short.

I think most should not be a problem and might leave you groggy at worst, ready for a bit of a booster session to clear your head.

But I'm interested if there are any types of sessions which you should not cut short.

In particular, I'm wondering if you can suffer from going through only part of a session with scripting. Marisa - would you have any ideas about this?

    Nope.

No, there isn't anything to worry about. Even if you are in a very deep trance and it gets interrupted, the worse thing that can happen is that you feel a bit spacey for a few minutes.
