    Default A question of bandwidth . . .

I'm hoping one of you brainiacs can help me sort this out . . .

The Procyon has a really big bandwidth that far exceeds those of any headphones I've ever heard. I'm remembering .5 Hz to 75,000 Hz.

My headphones get from 15-25,000 Hz.

How is the range of frequencies beyond the capacity of the headphones being delivered to the user?

Is it just overkill, from the lights or ???

    Hi Suz,
That is the range of visual frequencies delivered to the LEDs. Actually it is 0.5Hz to 75Hz. The lights are capable of pulsing at these frequencies.

The audio frequency range deliverable in a session is from 60Hz to 600Hz. Additionally, the Procyon will pass all the audio frequencies from external sources plugged into the AUX jack. High frequencies at around 19kHz are often used as control signals such as with AudioStrobe.

    Hope this helps!

So the audio bandwidth is quite narrow. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Thank you for the heads up.

No, it's full bandwidth - 20hz to 20khz. Only the range of tones the product can produce with it's internal synthesizer are 60hz to 600hz.

The frequencies of the internal synthesizer are limited to most useful range of pitches to be used for isochronic or binaural beat generation.

Not too high to be uncomfortable or not too low to be unusable with commonplace audio systems. If you review the pitches recommended by the Oster Curve for binaural beat production like http://www.the-guided-meditation-sit...ter-curve.html , you will see that the entrainment frequencies begin somewhat repeating themselves around 600Hz.

This may or may not be the reason why this pitch range was chosen, but it seems logical.

This was the primary reason for the pitch range limitation, Scott.
