Thread: Entrainment

    Default Entrainment

I'm new to AVS and now have my first mind machine - Procyon. I know little about the subject so forgive my simple questions.

My question is about Entrainment and what it means.

Q1. If I were to use a preset program, for let's say meditation, will my mind eventually be able to enter into this state more easily as time goes on?

My main interest is to have control over the internal dialogue, (mind chatter) and stop it at will.

    Q2. Has anyone accomplished this?

Entrainment essentially means to train your mind to enter into and be able to maintain a certain state for a period of time. With AVS, entrainment may be brief (technically - the brain may only stay on a particularly frequency for a short period) however, the mind may stay in that state longer. The goal of the AVS machine is to help get you there.

Yes. Many people have reported that all they have to do is close their eyes or fix their eyes on an object and they can imagine the sound of the machine as it tones slow down, which signal to your brain to follow.

Yes, if you let yourself go to the session eventually you get so interested in what is happening you forget to talk to yourself about it. You start with observing what is happening and practicing redirecting your attention to the visual and auditory stimulus and ignore the narrative. The more we pay attention to the chatter, the more it happens and the easiest way to stop it is to get engrossed in something else. It has to do with concentration and focus.

Meditation is one way and practicing concentration skills and using one of the concentration/energy programs (only during the day) is another way to learn to shut off the mind chatter.

Hope this answers your questions. If not, keep asking.

    Hi Marisa,

Would you say that a person using the Procyon should use one particular preset each day to entrain the mind in that frequency area or should one continuously move from preset to preset?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I would stick to the programs in the area that you want to entrain (Beta, Alpha etc.).

If you don't have the Procyon Session description list, you can find it here: http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...=3629#post3629
