Thread: updating OS killed my unit :(

  1. Post updating OS killed my unit :(

    Hi all,

    I have just downloaded the new installer ( might I add this was a damn sight easier to use then the old way ( no problems with driver install) so thanks for that fix) I also downloaded the new OS.

    Everything was working fine until I updated to the new OS, the screen flashed, then is blank. If I press the power switch it reads off, when I press it again nothing happens, but if it is connected to the computer i hear the usb sound activate . The unit no longer responds to the open COM which was COM 5. Its a pity because I was planning on using it with the MP3, mind work station as well as some of the sessions from the other units.

    If you could please help me flash the unit so I can try and reinstall the updated os it would be appreciated. I am keen to try the unit without the clicking and hissing which has hampered the unit for some time.

    Richard

    Hello Richard;

    I'm sorry to hear that you had difficulty in updating the OS on your Procyon.

    Were you using the right OS for your Procyon? i.e. do you have a Rev1 or Rev2 Procyon?

    How did you fix the problem?

    Hello,

    Rev 1 is my unit one of the older chipsets.

    1.7.6 I think is th eos on it currently from memory.

    After it stopped responding I attempted to hold down different buttons together when switching the unit on. By using this method I managed to access the DL1 setting on the unit when powering on .

    When the unit was active with DL1 I found the old OS and reinstalled that.

    I thought it was a glitch on the new install so I re tried it again, same problem and I used to same solution.

    Maybe I am using the wrong OS but I thought I had that right, I will have a look again in a few hours

    Thanks for the response.

    Rich

    Hi Rich;

    The Rev1 Procyon (which you have) uses OS 1.7.6, so you have the latest OS.

    Oh really? I had thought I would have needed an upgrade.

    There is still considerable noise when using the unit, is this likely to be due to the age? it is many years old now.

    Richard108, I have the same problem as you,
    it only appears in the display DL1
    ?How did you managed to install the old operating system?

    I could repair the procyon. Pressing play+arrows+turn on in the display is "DL1". I reinstalled the software, and my Pc detects the procyon. I installed the S.O. version 1.7.6.
    The procyon now works fine.

    Thanks

    Oh yeah,
    Did exactly the same thing.
    Can get the dlL 1 flashing.
    Still haven't managed to reinstal the operating system.
    The unit isn't connecting.

    Any other advice on what to do?

    What do you mean when you say the unit isn't connecting?

    Do you have a Rev1 or Rev2 Procyon?
