Thread: GSR electrode setup ?

  1. Default GSR electrode setup ?

Sometimes my TS works perfectly & other times its just plain finicky.

I have to assume this is related to the electrodes and skin conditions.

For example what if you are using the device in very warm humid weather as I was yesterday ?

What if you have some form of liniment on your hands even if it has dried ?

How about using some of the GSR electrode gel and skin prep solutions that are available from various places. Will this improve the readings reliability ?

Really simply to slap on the strap and go for it is inadequate and there is no advice in skin prep in the manual - can somebody suggest some good links ?

Default Re: GSR electrode setup ?

Of the GSR gizmos I've played with, the TS is by far the most consistent and reliable.

Give the sensor contacts an occasional good rub with a pot scrubber (not steel wool!), just to take off the oxidation.

A little bit of moisturiser on the hands works well when things are really dry, but usually just giving them a wash with soapy water and a good dry with a towel works fine.

Skin prep gels and pastes are not a good thing - GSR is dependent on skin resistance and these usually contain electrolytes which will mess that up wel and truly.

    Cheers,
    Craig
