New USB Thoughtstream, new software?!
Hi there,
with the new USB Thoughtstream being officially listed at http://www.mindplace.com/ThoughtStream-System_2 I wonder if there are any improvements other than the USB interface? Also, a new USB interface software is available at http://www.mindplacesupport.com/ThoughtStream.htm - are there any noticable differences compared to the software for the serial port Thoughtstream?
Thanks a lot,
Thomas
Re: New USB Thoughtstream, new software?!
Hi Thomas;
My understanding is that the new TS USB has only 2 changes. One is the switch from RS-232 to USB and the other is a higher sample rate which produces more readings per second.
I believe the software features are the same, except for the higher sample rate.

Re: New USB Thoughtstream, new software?!
Hi Andy,
oh..errm...well, these are minor issues after all. I'm sure that the (USB) Thoughtstream gives precise measurements and I am quite happy I can export to Excel. That's enough for me - for the moment ;)
The last issue I think about is whether or not to buy the TS or maybe wait for the PreSage (I know, I might have to wait quite some time :rolleyes: ). What is known about the PreSage at this point in time? Besides its ability to work with the Procyon, will it provide more & higher quality biofeedback positilites than the TS when both (Presage & Thoughtstream) are compared as stand-alone units?
Thanks,
Thomas
Re: New USB Thoughtstream, new software?!
The PreSage was intended to be a companion to the Procyon like the TS was to the Proteus, so it was designed to interface with it in some way.
Honestly, there is no point in waiting for the PreSage. It has been plauged with delays from the get-go and there's really no ETA or spec on what features it will have or how it will work. The TS is a great bargain - it's simple and functions well, and with the USB connection, it's more compatible with modern computers.
