PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Hello there
I was wanting to download Requiem to my Kasina but the microcard is not being recognised by my pc. The usb is recognised by my Kasina and lights up and charges but no sign of it on my pc. Any suggestions? I have tried different ports.
Thanks in advance
Alison

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Rebooting the PC often clears up any locked USB ports. I've noticed at times that the AVS Charge process (which charges the battery) can stick a port.
Otherwise, do you see the USB icon on the Kasina interface available or is it grayed out?
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
No, its not grayed out and appears to be charging ok. Also it makes the noise when connected as though the pc is recognising it but it's not showing up anywhere.
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
I suppose you looked under My Computer to see if Kasina SD is listed among the devices? And did you reboot?
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
yes, did both:confused: If its showing up as charging and the Kasina is showing up that the USB is operational....does that mean its the right sort of USB?
I have so many different chargers here but that's just a thought.

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
That's a good point. There is a type of USB cable (mainly for phone chargers) that carries charge signal only and not data which the Kasina requires to mount USB or the Kasina AVS audio device. So try another cable. Also, under the Sound Control panel do you see the Kasina AVS audio device?

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
:hello2::Hurrayyyy
I tried 6 different cables and several different ports til I took out the port that my expansion drive was using as obviously that was not faulty and hey presto!!
Thanks very much for the help. I will now put a coloured marker on my USB so I don't have this problem again. :icon_wink:
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
That's good news. So it was the port or the cable?
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
I think I must have been using the wrong cable. However, that's it working now and Requiem was truly spectacular!
Well worth fiddling about for.
Are those sessions just for entertainment and what brainwaves do they use? The colours were phenomenal.
:D
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
I don't know the answer to that as I am not aware of the exact structure of the session. Robert might know.
Entertainment probably, most all of the AudioStrobe titles emphasis bursts of patterns over static frequencies. If you played on the Kasina then which ColorPreset did you use? That would effect the colors.

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
I played it on Kasina and flicked through the colour options in audiostrobe. That's my USB not working again. It must be faulty as it was suddenly recognised and showed under the computer and I was able to download Requiem but when I went to connect again to download some more it says its not recognised.
I am death to electrical gadgets and electronics. :eusa_boohoo:

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Check other devices by plugging them into the same ports you are having trouble with. That would help narrow if this issue is confined to the Kasina or not.
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
I have discovered that there is a fault Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant host ...
The pc tried to reinstall the drivers but said there is a fault and I have to consult device manufacturer. The same lead that worked is now tempramental sometimes being recognised and sometimes not....but it has the yellow triangle by device manager and none of the suggestions work.
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
That is a Firewire card... 1394 that is. It should be unrelated to this issue. The best thing to do is establish that the USB ports work. Try hooking up a drive, flash drive, camera, scanner.. anything USB and verify that those ports work.

Yes, they all work. My external hard drive is instantly recognised in all of them.
when I tried the lead that worked it worked straight away although I am sure I had tried it before with no joy.
it must be something intermittent as I was able to access and download Requiem with no problem but when I tried to repeat it....I was back to square one. :confused4:

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
So if you put Requiem on the Kasina, right?, then why are you wanting to put it on there again? Just as a test?
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
I don't have a Kasina in front of me, but I believe that the Kasina will only show up as a USB drive when you DON'T have the Kasina in USB mode (top right icon on the main screen). As non-intuitive as that sounds, when it's in USB mode, it's using the USB connection for audio, not for file transfers.
If someone could verify this for me, that would be great!

No Scot, I meant go on then and add some more tracks.

Hi Andy,
I thought that must be the answer and that maybe the one time it worked perfectly ok I had inadvertently forgotten to put it into USB mode...but no...:icon_frown:
It did look promising this morning when the pc said it was searching for drivers...then it came back that it was an unidentified device,

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Is there any software that I can re-install? Everything is working..by that I mean that all ports are working and the Kasina is charging and so it is recognising the pc. The PC is recognising that something is plugged in but it does not have the drivers for it. ;)

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
It's ok. I tried again to use my micro card but the pc was not recognising it either. I Googled and apparently some micro-cards are not recognised if someone has upgraded from Vista to windows 7 and I have windows 7. Anyway, I went up to the local pc shop where the man had the card working perfectly so I think the fault is in my old PC. :eusa_think:
I shall be getting a new one in the summer as this one is on its last legs. I will simply use the micro-card instead of the USB until I get an upgrade. It's quicker anyway.
Thanks for all the help. I dare say I shall be back with more queries lol.:icon_redface:
I have bought small coloured stickers and going to highlight all the different progs on the booklet so I can see at a glance which ones are alpha etc.

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
All drivers should install automatically. It sounds like there is a deeper issue with your PC USB ports. Depending on what you have plugged in, external hard drive with no extra power adapter for instance, you might be drawing too much power from the USB bus and making it unstable. These types of things are hard to troubleshoot. It is why you isolate the Kasina as the only device using USB, to test. You probably already did that.
One thing that I thought could be possible is that your micro-SD in the Kasina became unlatched. You can see that it has a spring mechanism in it that you can push in and out. So, it could look like it was loaded when really it wasn't and was make intermittent contact. Push it in fully to be sure it is latched. You might have already tried this, but always simple things first.

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Yes, tried all them but I am quite happy now as I can download stuff via this new external card reader. It will be a problem with my old PC.
I have downloaded progs before onto the Kasina to listen to with colour organ and also downloaded a prog from one of our contributors here on the forum with no problems.
However, today I tried to download a couple, one from here on the forum and one I downloaded from you tube and it said I have to take the name off it before I could use it?

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Who gave that message? Windows? Kasina? What is the file name and what type of file? Must be an mp3 or wav. Some files on the forum are Mind Workstation or NeuroProgrammer files. Something downloaded from YouTube is an unknown depending on how you downloaded it.

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
:dontknow:
Yes, Kasina when I tried to place the file (from desktop) into Kasina in the folder.
I also tried with this one see below as it's been given to the site to try but it said it was named which I take to mean under copyright. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I have just been saving the mp3 on my desk top. What's sound cloud when it's at home?

Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
SoundCloud depends on what the original upload format was. Mostly mp3. The name shouldn't have anything to do with copyrights. Thalassa's file in an mp3.
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
Yes Thalassa's file in an mp3. But when I try to put that in my Kasina it says This disk is write protected. Remove the write protection or use another disk. :icon_rolleyes:
Ah, got it now. It's the disk itself that is write protected not the mp3. :confused1:
I will now go and look up how to conquer that.
-
Re: PC not recognising my usb or micro card
There's a little slide switch that write protects the card. You need to disable this. Here are instructions: http://www.instructables.com/id/Remo...n-a-Micro-SD./

:eusa_dance:Done it! Thanks again Scott. Your patience is commendable.

:banana:Yes, hunky dory for the time being!!!
Will listen to Thalassa's MP3 then give her some feedback.
