Are these devices safe for your eyes?
I recently came across information about the harmful effects of blue light on the retina. I've been wanting to try one of these devices for some time now, but I certainly don't want to risk damage to my already not-so-good eyes.
Blue-violet light in the 415nm to 455nm range was identified as being the most harmful to the retina. (Blue-turquoise light in the 465nm to 495nm range, on the other hand, is thought to be essential for vision, and also for regulation of our circadian cycle.)
I'd be interested to hear what MindPlace has to say about this. I'd like to treat myself to a Kasina for my birthday if someone can put my mind at ease about safety.
Re: Are these devices safe for your eyes?
Hello,
I would also be glad to know whether the blue LED of the Kasina is in this "dangerous" range of 415-455 nm.
Is it only dangerous if we open our eyes with the standard goggles?
Re: Are these devices safe for your eyes?
There have been no findings or reports of damage for anyone using the devices as instructed. i.e. with your eyes closed. There further have been no reports or evidence of any damage coming from using the devices with your eyes open either, but we don't recommend using them that way, except when using the DeepVision Ganzframes.
Re: Are these devices safe for your eyes?
Thank you for your response Andy. It would be nice to have one day some scientific proof of the innocuity of the lights for ours eyes. It would be reassuring

Re: Are these devices safe for your eyes?
The proof is in the lack of evidence.

And we don't use blue-violet LEDs in any of our products.
