Re: Proteus serial cable problem
Is this on Win7 or WinXP?
Sorry, it won't say that it found a MindPlace device as you are using a 3rd party adapter. That message is just for the Procyon, Thoughtstream USB and the Proteus USB. It's still useful as in the main window it should list every port it finds, MindPlace or not.
In your case, the log file should show something on COM4.
Re: Proteus serial cable problem
Here is a log:
Log File opened at 11.1.2014. 10:56:48
10:56:48.737 ... Searching for Com Ports...
10:56:48.775 ... Finished Search.
10:56:50.657 ... Closing Program...
10:56:50.662 ... Log File Closed.
This laptop is Windows 7, i have another with Windows XP so i will give it a try there today and report the findings.
Re: Proteus serial cable problem
I'm baffled. I have never seen this sort of issue. If the com port is there, I can't imagine why FindPorts is not seeing it. If FindPorts can't see it, then it probably won't work with the Editor either.
I really think it'd be worth your while to contact MindPlace about getting the proper Proteus USB adapter.
Contact them at orders@mindplace.com, asking if there's a place in Europe to get the adapter, and if not, what the cheapest way to send it would be. It's a small cable and wouldn't weigh much. I'm sure if it were sent by mail the cost would be minimal.
Re: Proteus serial cable problem
Sounds good. I think with the "approved" cable you'll have less issues with getting things working.
Let us know if you have any problems with the new cable.
